Curriculum

The Child Care follows a play-based curriculum, children learn through play experiences. Children participate in the planning process, often choosing activities to be implemented in their rooms. Teachers plan according to the development levels of the children in their care based on their observations of the children. Areas planned for include: Fine Motor (arts & crafts), Science, Sensory, Dramatic Play, Cognitive and Gross Motor (outdoor & indoor active play).

Inclusion

The John Wanless Child Care Program believes each child is unique. We recognize individual abilities and encourage children to grow and develop at their own pace through play and learning in each of our rooms. We believe in forming positive relationships with all our families so that we work and support each other throughout each child's development.

Full Day Kindergarten Before & After School Care (FDK)

Quality Child Care for Junior and Senior Kindergarten children.

• Current Monthly fee $329.81 opted in to Canada-Wide Early Learning Child Care System (Starting January 2023)
• Nutritious daily morning and afternoon snacks
• Weekly program plan which includes a variety of activities in the areas of arts and crafts, science and drama
• Circle time with songs, stories, sharing and current events
• Daily outdoor playtime in school playground and/or indoor gym

Schoolage

Quality morning, lunchtime and after school Child Care for schoolage children, in bright air-conditioned rooms.

• Current Monthly fee $535.00 (Starting January 2023)
• Weekly programs exploring creative arts, science, drama and sports
• Activities are geared to stimulate the older child in a co-operative social setting
• Computers are available in each schoolage room with fun, educational software
• Daily outdoor activities in playground or inside sports/games in the gym
• Nutritious afternoon snacks

Nursery - Starting September 2023

Quality Child Care for 2.6 year olds to 4 years old in a bright air-conditioned room.

• Current Monthly fee 2 days a week $214.00 (Starting Setember 2023)
• Current Monthly fee 3 days a week $318.00 (Starting September 2023)
• Current Monthly fee 4 days a week  $422.00 (Starting September 2023)
• Current Monthly fee 5 days a week $525.00 (Starting September 2023)
• Nutritious morning snacks
• Weekly program plan which fosters socialization which includes a variety of activities in the areas of arts and crafts, science and drama
• Circle time with songs, musical movement and stories
