New Applicants - Schoolage

The John Wanless Child Care Program offers programs designed to meet the needs of full-day children.

All of our full time teachers are highly qualified Registered Early Childhood Educators and provide innovative, interesting and caring programs in an atomosphere geared to children.

Our program operates from September to June.  The Child Care Program is also open during March Break and all Professional Activity Days.

Licensed by Ministry of Education, the Child Care operates as a non-profit organization  housed in the Toronto District School Board building.  Fees are tax deductiable and receipts are issued.  All fees are subject to annual review.

Waiting List Policy

1. Presentation of the applicant child's Birth Certificate to Child Care staff upon completing Waiting List online.

2. When a space becomes available and you are next on the list, no more than three (3) phone call attempts will be made to advise you of the spot.  Should the child care be unable to contact you by phone, the next family will be offered the spot.

3. Once offered a spot, you will be given three (3) days to decide and email us a voided cheque or financial information and Pre-Authorized Debit Agreement form signed.  Should we not recieve a voided cheque or financial information and Pre-Authorized Debit Agreement form signed within the three (3) day period, the next person on the list will be offered the spot.

4. Should you be offered a spot for the first time and choose to decline it, you have the option to defer your spot until the next year with the entry date change to the date of the decline.  

5. You may ask your child(ren)'s number on the waiting list and you will be given that information keeping in mind the waiting list policy and the enrollment policy.

Enrolment Policy

Effective September 2008, The John Wanless Child Care Program will only accept children from families who live in the John Wanless JR Public School district.  If a family moves out of district during a school year, the family will not be able to register their children in the Child Care Program for the next school year.  Two pieces of proof of address must be presented upon registration of all children in the Child Care Program ie: lease, unconditional purchase agreements, current utility bills and valid driver's licences are generally considered satisfactory evidence of current address.  Siblings of children currently in Child Care and who live in district have priority on our waiting list.  However acceptance into the Child Care Programs not guaranteed and sibling(s) will not be accepted if the Child Care Program is at or over its enrolment capacity.  A child's sibling priority will become null and void if all of the child's silbling(s) have left the Child Care Program before the child is accepted into the child care program.  *The child MUST attend the John Wanless JR Public School in order to attend The John Wanless Child Care Program.  A copy of our full Enrolment Policy is available upon request.

New Applicants - Nursery

NOTE!- The Nursery program will operate starting in Seprtember 2023.

Waiting List Policy

Enrolment Policy

Children in the Nursery Program are given an early introduction to The John Wanless Child Care Program and School before starting JK, however, as per the enrolment policy of the John Wanless Child Care Program and John Wanless JR Public School, only families living in-district will be accepted starting as of JK.  Those families enrolled in the Nursery Program living out of the district must attend thier home school as of JK commencement.  

Acceptance into the Nursery program is not guaranteed if the Nursery Program is at or over its enrolment capacity.  Children that attend the Nursery Program are also not guaranteed a spot in our Grades 1- 5 program.

The Nursery Program commences a week after school starts in September and finishes a week before school finishes in June.

Our program operates from September to June.  The Child Care Program is also open during the Christmas and March Break as well as all professional activity days.
